Dear Jenny,
We are so sorry to hear this news. Our thoughts are with you both. We will be around Oxford on and off from mid May till early June. If there is anything we can do for you please don't hesitate to let us know. Although we have been sort of neighbours for a while and we could not have wished for nicer, more helpful and supportive neighbours, we haven't spent enough time with John to have any stories to recount. I don't think helping John repaint our garage door counts though him taking the initiative on doing it, doing most of the work and paying a large portion of the cost, shows what a wonderful, thoughtful man he is.
We should also mention the time John helped Anne and Julia by fixing the telephone line and aerial into the house - another example of his helpful and kind neighbourliness.
