Dear John,
I just got Jennie’s update, and am feeling angry at the universe for doing this to you. But at the same time, I am so thankful for the gifts that you and your work continue to give, even to philosophers like me, who work so many thousands of miles away from you. You keep inspiring us, and our students. And in spite of our anger at the universe, we are thankful that we get these extra months with you, and that you are still doing philosophy, still here with us, still as witty as ever.
