Having such strong hopes that these would be gentler days for John, for you, for all of you, after what you had already dealt with, this brutal news feels hard to face.
Reading what you wrote, seeing the courage and grace with which you and John are talking about it, it feels amazing that anyone could do that, and at the same time it feels natural that you and John are. Giving strength to the children, John's mother and brother, your parents and Kristina's family, you are also finding a way to bring solace to us in the wider circles who surround you. May your love and compassion be reflected through all those circles, even as we stand shaken, struggling for words.
