Dear John,
I have not been in College much, but wanted to say that my thoughts are fully with you - and that I am sending you strength, and all the very best wishes, as your radiotherapy begins. I really hope for the very best possible results.
I still remember your meeting me in NZ many years ago before I came to Oxford, and you have always been so kind and warm towards me, including before my All Souls viva (with no justification really). I am rooting for you as you go through this.
