Jennifer, this email is to both you and John. You don't know me, but John does. Emily Sherwin forwarded me your email about John's condition.
Anyway, it suffices that the news you conveyed was devastating to all of us who know John and admire him and his work. And I must say that an admirable trait that I hadn't realized he possessed is his choice of mate. Both of you have displayed such courage and grace under fire. You're inspirational. I hope you, John, keep on writing and educating the rest of us. Meanwhile, you both are in my thoughts and prayers.
